Idriss Diallo is elected for the next four years.
Former member of the FIF and vice-president of Afad, the club of the 1st Ivorian League, he obtained 63 votes against 61 against his opponent in the second round, Sory diabité, former vice-president of the organization.
In the first round, they were all far ahead of Drogba, who only got 21 votes out of 130 votes.
Despite his huge and famous career, the striker and former Chelsea striker, who announced his candidacy in 2020, is not among the favourites.

According to several observersSupported, he was supported by the Confederation of African Football and Fifa, Didier Drogba failed to convince the presidents of Ivorian clubs who constituted the overwhelming majority of voters.

He was criticized for not knowing enough about local football and for having done a minimal campaign, without plowing the ground enough.

Will this election put an end to a long period that has shaken the FIF?

In any case, it was postponed several times to 2020 due to an intrusion into the application system which subsequently blocked Drogba’s application.

The FIF was mandated in December by Fifa, which set up a Standardization Commission.

Former leader of the biggest national club Asec Mimosas from 1984 to 1998, Idriss Diallo will be responsible for bringing color to Ivorian football.

The country failed to qualify for the World Cup in 2018 and 2022 and have been absent in the quarter-finals and eights at two African Cups of Nations.

Côte d’Ivoire will host the next CAN from June 23 to July 23, 2023.
